I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
The Cape is a place for memories. What starts as summer trips with your family, turns to a white dress and walking into the sunset; the start of your forever. It’s a beautiful thing, having a place that holds the treasures of your heart. Whether it’s your favorite ice cream shop, the way the ocean breeze lifts you right off of your feet, or the songs you sing as you cross the bridge, the Cape is magic. I’m not at all surprised that Matt and Laura chose to say “I do” in their home away from home. And the Chatham Summer house is the perfect setting for a wedding at home.
The whole family came together to turn Laura’s vision of a simple celebration into an elegant dream come true. Laura’s mother, sister, and aunt arranged all of the florals and reception decor. Everything you see was driven in a U-Haul from New York by Laura’s parents, sparing no details! From the gold plate chargers to the hand-drawn place cards to the embroidered shawls, everything turned out perfectly perfect.
Sweet treats sprinkled the tables of the dinner tent; bowls of colorful saltwater taffy and thank you boxes filled with seashell and pebble shaped chocolate. I ate a little too much on the drive home, the chocolates were THAT good! In addition to traditional wedding cake, ice cream from Sundae School made for an entertaining dessert! Laura’s brother-in-law dressed the part in a bowtie and dawned an adorable scooping hat while he served bowls of the couples’ favorite flavor- raspberry Oreo. Don’t worry, Laura and Matt wore matching hats as they ate their serving. Too cute!
Laura emulated Amanda Seyfried’s character in the film Mama Mia. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her natural beauty. Her effortless bridal style complimented the way her eyes sparkled every time she smiled. We were all there to celebrate the love between Laura and Matt, and that is without a doubt what we all did.
The Chatham Summer house has a cottage on the property. Laura and her mother and sister got ready in the upstairs bedroom. As I walked up the stairs, familiar ABBA songs greeted me. I took a moment to gather it all in; painted blue floors, gorgeous light streaming through the windows, water views, and three giddy girls. It definitely felt like a scene from the film. A fun and sweet memory I will carry with me.
Laura’s mother wrote each of them a letter to read before they walked down the aisle. We laughed at each of their reactions. Laura looked quite uncomfortable having to read such a heart-felt note, while Matt was positively touched. Such a sweet son-in-law!
To my bride and groom: wishing you lots of love and happiness!
