I send you a questionnaire to help you with your vision, I send over sample galleries so you can see your vision brought to life, and I take all of the stress out of preparing by providing you with plenty of tips and tricks for showing up and rocking your session. I'm here to serve YOU, in the best way that I can.

The third step
Because I take a lifestyle approach to my photography, the day of your session is one you can enjoy. I love movement, I love giving prompts that encourage connection, and I most of all I love letting the little ones take the lead. I make sure we capture traditional posed portraits, but ultimately I want to document who you are as a family. I want to capture the belly laughs, the hugs, the excitement. I want to capture all of the little details that take up the most space in your heart.

I encourage my clients to book their sessions around sunrise or sunset (if outdoors), which is when we will have the softest light to work with. Soft light ensures even skin tones. I also encourage my clients to utilize my style guide, and choose locations I've recommended.

So much time, money, and education goes into the work of a photographer. You aren't just paying for your photographer to take your photos. You are paying for your photographer to edit your photos, which requires editing software. You are paying your photographer to know how to pose you and how to understand and work with light (whether natural or artificial), which requires ongoing education. You're paying for your images and the safety of your images, which requires SD cards and the use of storage (online cloud and hard drives). You're paying for photos to look high-end, which requires expensive equipment and maintenance.
professional photos are a luxury investment.
Every day, every family, every photographer is different. I have a different style of shooting and editing, and probably different equipment than the photographer who's photos you fell in love with. Every location is different, too. The light changes every day, and every minute. The weather is different every day. I love a good Pinterest inspired vision, and I will take that vision and apply it to your session. But, it is going to be different. And, that's okay! It's beautiful, actually! So, embrace your style, your family's uniqueness, my style, and the elements we have to work with. Your photos will be magical. I promise.

I provide my families with a style guide prior to their sessions. Included are outfit inspirations from real clients, mood boards for every season, and sample outfits and color palettes for a light and bright gallery. I always encourage a mixture of patterns and textures to pair with solids. I also always encourage my clients to dress up, rather than dress down. Pinterest is a lovely resource for style inspiration for any photoshoot location and season. But my most important tip for style success is to wear something you feel comfortable and confident in.
