I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
Wow. What an exquisite venue to photograph! The Glen Manor House is nestled in the cozy neighborhood town of Portsmouth, RI. Immaculately manicured grounds, strong, double wood doors, tall ceilings (and I mean TALL) and detailed wood trim are the first to catch your eye as you approach the front entrance. As you walk along the marble floor through to the opulent reception halls, you’re then mesmerized by the gold chandeliers and floor to ceiling glass doors that overlook the grounds. You can’t help but try to take in every exquisite inch of the manor’s grandeur. And as you’re doing so, you’re probably letting go of the breath you didn’t realize you were holding. Yep, gorgeous. Its grand and stately structure will surely WOW your guests, and provide beautiful backdrops for all of your photos! Glen Manor House is without a doubt a glamorous venue to host your wedding.
My job as a wedding photographer brought me to the Glen Manor House, so I might see it through a different lens than most. When I’m walking through a venue or a space for the first time, I’m checking for the kind of light it offers. The plethora of windows that frame much of the exterior of the manor let in beautiful natural light. In my opinion, this abundance of light softens the heaviness of the architecture quite nicely. I think the combination of the building’s strong stature and lovely natural light enhances the grandness of the manor.
Walking the property, I was thrilled at how many beautiful spots there were for photos. The front of the manor was an absolute must, but I’m always looking for a few other options for portraits to add variety to my couple’s galleries. There’s a stunning marble staircase that seems to be popular for bridal portraits, so we of course hopped on that train. Next to the entrance to the manor is a fairytale-like little garden space. This space offered the perfect amount of privacy for my bride and groom to gather their thoughts and process their emotions away from their guests. I loved the portraits we captured here. We ended the the evening on the dock behind the manor. Oh, how I love how a good dock photoshoot. Such a peaceful setting, and probably my favorite set of portraits from the entire day. Maybe it’s the Cape Cod and Florida girl in me… I do love the water!
A truly glamorous wedding at the Glen Manor House! I honestly could have blogged the entire gallery, but with much restraint managed to feature a select few favorites. Shoutout to Rachel and Arya for being such an adorable couple and for allowing me to share their day with them! Their love is the reason for this beautiful day.
