I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
On May 1 we welcomed our second little girl, Emma Eloise, into the world! Our hearts are so full, and we are so blessed to have our rainbow baby Earth side and healthy. Mackenzie is thrilled to be a big sister, and she loves baby Emma so much already. It’s been a joy to document their sisterly bond, and it’s truly a gift to be able to capture these memories for our family. I’m so excited to share the rest of our lifestyle newborn session with you!
My water broke three weeks early (after being assured two days prior that baby was not coming anytime soon)! I never went into labor with Mackenzie, so I wasn’t sure what to expect this time around. Turns out, there is no mistaking your water breaking. Matt left work immediately and couldn’t contain his excitement. I, on the other hand, was still in a bit of shock. I mean, this was actually happening! After 20 hours of labor and a very magical epidural, our little love arrived.
When it comes to naming our children, we like to wait to see them after they are born before finalizing a name. Brainstorming was becoming a bit frustrating since we both could not agree on a name we loved. One night, we were chatting with Emma’s godparents, and they jokingly suggested “Emma”.
The backstory here is that they and myself really love the TV show FRIENDS. I associate with Rachel, Matt is Ross through and through (which he takes a little offense to but who doesn’t love Ross?!), and our friends are Monica and Chandler. Well, since Monica and Rachel are best friends in the show, and Michelle and I are best friends, she referred to the episode in the show when Rachel has her baby and Monica offers her girl name to Rachel: Emma. We laughed at the idea, but then the more we thought about it the more we really loved the name. And the fact that we had chosen them to be her godparents made it pretty perfect.
I was really pushing for Phoebe, though!
Life as a family of four has had its challenges, but we are so grateful for all of the extra love it’s brought. God gave us two beautiful girls to raise up in this world, and I can’t wait to see who they grow to be. Looking forward to all of the moments between now and then, and just savoring this sweet time while they’re little and oh so lovable (for the most part).
