Summer Senior Session at Scusset Beach

Meet Zoe! This sweet senior has been part of our family for the last 12 years. Her family’s lake house in Maine is right next to my grandparents’. We’ve spent every summer sharing meals, boat rides, day trips, late night chats by the fire, and many great times. Zoe and my sister are both seniors this year, and it’s so crazy to me that they are already grown up. Like, how?! Just acknowledging that makes me feel way old.

While I would have jumped at the opportunity to photograph this session at one of the many picturesque spots along the coast of southern Maine, time just didn’t allow. Lucky for me, Zoe and her family split time at their home in Danvers, MA which made it possible for me capture these portraits! A beautiful summer senior session at Scusset Beach, for sure! And, I very much enjoyed spending time with Zoe and her mom in my neck of the woods.

I’m thinking a photoshoot may just have to happen in Maine in the near future, though. Just look at those beautiful blue eyes and that big smile! Photographing Zoe was a dream! Plus, I loved that one of her outfit choices incorporated my brand color- PINK!

The magic of scusset beach and summer time senior sessions

What I love about Scusset Beach is the different types of backdrops it offers; there’s something for everyone. First, the beach, which is stunning at sunset. And, if you’re lucky, you may spot some seals! Second, a rock jetty. I love the dimension a jetty adds. Leading lines make such a statement. Third, a grassy, desert-looking area that photographs really well. How the light catches in the tall grass, creating an incredible glow, is just the best.

Summer time is perfect for senior sessions, as it adds a little extra magic. It’s warm, the light is perfection, and there’s the thrill of what’s to come in the fall when school is back in session. It’s the last hurrah in this season of grade school life, and I love helping them document this milestone of readying their wings to fly.
