Sunset Engagement Session at Drummer Boy Park| Cape Cod Engagement Photographer

This sunset engagement session at Drummer Boy Park in Brewster, MA made me fall in love with park photoshoots. Drummer Boy Park is a beautiful spot, full of the most magnificent oak trees and lush green grass. It’s absolutely gorgeous at sunset when the leaves are saturated in the golden glow of the sun.

When visiting Cape Cod, beach photos are pretty much expected. I was actually pushing for Rebecca and Trevor to add the beach as a second location for their session, but I’m so glad they loved this location enough to want to stay! My favorite images in their gallery are images I took at the very end of their session when we decided to explore more of the grounds.

The Session

Rebecca and Trevor planned a getaway to the Cape earlier this summer. What Trevor didn’t know was that Rebecca arranged for a surprise engagement session while they were here. It isn’t often I meet a groom that is more excited about engagement photos than the bride, but I loved it! The funny thing is that we all arrive at the park and I immediately start explaining my vision for the session. Unbeknownst to me, Trevor still has no idea why they are in the middle of a park talking to a complete stranger with a camera. Rebecca needs to teach me her ways because she kept this secret until the very last second. I had to tell him, “Hi, I’m Ashley and I am going to be photographing your engagement session this evening. Surprise!”

I had so much fun coaching these two through all of the poses and finding ways to capture the genuine candids I love so much. You’d be amazed at how helpful a nosy branch can be with candids, too! Rebecca conquered her fear of being center of attention on camera by singing her way through many of the shots. I’m in love with the results!

To make this session extra special, Rebecca wore the exact outfit she was wearing when Trevor proposed to her! So many feels.
