I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
A Chatham sunrise session that’s worth the early morning wake up!
I joined the Schmidt family on Lighthouse Beach, in Chatham, for an early morning session to commemorate their annual vacation to the Cape. Kristin and Matt have been visiting the Cape for years, and now they are enjoying all of the summer beach vibes with their son, Wyatt. This sweet family was as calm as the water and the breeze during their session. Maybe they were still wishing they were sleeping, or maybe they were made for long, slow strolls along the shore. Either way, I loved helping them capture these beautiful memories in a place they hold close to their hearts.
Chatham was one of the first places I fell in love with when I moved here, and I’ll never tire of walking main street while eating an ice cream cone or driving past the Chatham Bars Inn and admiring all of its Cape Cod elegance. For my 30th birthday this year, Matt surprised me with a little “stay-cation” there! All of my dreams came true once we stepped through the doors. It literally feels like you’re on a cruise ship! It’s an incredible place, and we can’t wait to make more memories there with Mackenzie when she’s a little older.
I LOVE sunrise sessions! The light is stunning, and there is a beautiful stillness in the air that just doesn’t exist on Cape Cod in the summertime. Having the beach to yourself is pretty great, too! Waking up with the sun to do what I love most also sets the tone for a great day!
I’ve gotten to know a lot of families over the past year. We’re all doing life a little differently, and we’re all facing different challenges. But, we all have one thing in common; we want our life to be captured beautifully.
I’m currently taking a break from my WWII books, and am now reading “Mom Truths“. I started reading it last night and I’ll probably finish it by tomorrow night. IT’S THAT GOOD. And, it truly speaks to all of us moms who are just over here trying to survive each day. The authors reassure their readers in every chapter that we don’t have to be perfect, that motherhood isn’t perfect. But I think deep down all of us want it to be a little bit perfect. So, when I’m photographing my families, I am striving to create magic in front of my lens. I want all of the moms I’m working with to scroll through their galleries and see the family they’ve been dreaming about having their whole lives. Because for at least a moment, life should be everything you hoped it would be.
How cute are these matching hats?!
As much as I am a girl mom, I took one look at Wyatt and Matt and my heart wanted my husband, Matt, (yes, same name!) to have these adorable father and son moments, too. This family just keeps getting cuter as the session goes on!
I only have one rule during my sessions: have FUN!
Photographing candid moments is my speciality, and it’s definitely what I prefer. I love looking at images of my clients and being able to say, “This is them”.
Thank you Schmidt Family, for a Chatham sunrise session I won’t forget!

Thank you!! Yes, reading is definitely my favorite hobby!
Beautiful! That light is stunning!
Thank you! Sunrise light is my fave!
Ashley – I can’t thank you enough for capturing these beautiful photos for our family! We spent 45 minutes with you but felt like I had known you for a lifetime. We quickly bonded over being moms and chatted throughout the session about our little ones. Somehow you were able to wrangle my very busy 5-year-old and convince him that taking pictures at 7am could actually be fun…lol. I hope you know just how much we appreciate you and the memories that you captured for us on that beautiful Thursday morning<3
