A Backyard Bash Wedding for the Books
The Cape is a beautiful place to visit. It’s also a beautiful place to call home. Amanda and Kevin decided to tie the knot and celebrate with all of their family and friends at Amanda’s grandmother’s house. From getting ready to the last dance of the night, Amanda and her family closed out another core memory in the home that already holds so many. A backyard bash made perfect sense when planning for this wedding. And thanks to an incredible team of vendors who helped bring this vision to life. A backyard wedding for the books!
Cape Cod is a second home to a lot of its visitors, and they all call it home for different reasons. I always love hearing their stories and seeing the Cape through their eyes. Everything about Amanda and Kevin’s wedding day gave me a glimpse into their Cape Cod. The little grassy area where they exchanged their vows is where they enjoy the sunset. The swings in the neighbor’s yard are imprinted with the sounds of laughter from when Amanda and her sisters were little. From what I gathered in conversation, just being at her grandmother’s house holds the magic of the Cape. I feel that. I am blessed to have a summer escape to Maine at my own grandparents’ house. That house on the lake; that’s Maine to me.
Cape Cod Cuisine
I’m pretty sure lobster is on everyone’s mind when they head to the Cape. I know my mother-in-law craves it every summer when she visits us. And I quite enjoy when it’s on the menu at a wedding. I love seeing the guests in their lobster bibs! I remember we hosted a lobster bake the day after my husband and I got married. We invited our guests up to the lake house in Maine, because our wedding was in Kennebunkport. Everyone enjoyed the experience of eating a lobster and all of the yummy fixings that come with it. When in Rome, right?
