I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
Intimate weddings are the sweetest. And this wedding day, in particular, was extra sweet. Nina and Hal came together with their families and close friends and their sweet little love, Brooklyn. The day started out at the adorable Sesuit Harbor House, where everyone enjoyed drinks and good company while getting ready. This hidden gem provided a relaxed atmosphere that suited Nina and Hal’s vision for their day perfectly. I loved having the opportunity to get to know the couple’s family and friends, and savor each moment with them. Fast-paced wedding days are exciting, but it’s a breath of fresh air when they are slow and go with the flow.
Have you ever visited Cold Storage Beach in Dennis, MA? It’s delightful! Long stretch of sand, a beautiful view of the harbor, and water as sparkling as the Caribbean. I’m so happy the rain cleared in time for the ceremony. The sunshine brought the most magical light, making all of the colors of summer POP! A fun surprise followed Nina and Hal’s vows. One of Nina’s friend’s brought music, and formal dances happened right there on the beach! Not going to lie, I burst into tears. Such a heart-filled time spent with everyone up until that moment, and watching all of the love unfold so authentically just hit me. I feel like I will always think of Cold Storage Beach as the wedding beach. And I kind of love that.
Is there anything sweeter than a little third wheel? Not when it comes to being the third wheel at your mommy and daddy’s wedding! I know Nina and Hal faced the normal parenting struggles during the getting ready portion of the day. While frustrating, it’s to be expected. I sympathized with them. Just the night before my own baby girl would not sleep. These little ones have a mind of their own. That’s okay, though. You learn to roll with the punches, am I right? I chose to take advantage of Brooklyn’s need for Nina. I captured all of the snuggles and the sweet little details of motherhood. Those photos are my favorites from the whole day.
Did you know I shared my parents’ wedding day with them? I was exactly Brooklyn’s age when they married. Yes, I think the added stress of having to take care of a tiny human on your wedding day might make it a little less enjoyable. (Can you tell I’m still in the thick of raising tiny humans? LOL.) However, there’s also an added sweetness. How special, sharing your commitment to one another with your child. Love is what brought you here to this day, and that love has already flourished. It’s as real as the rings you exchange. Tangible reminders of your choice to live this life together. I kind of want to renew my own vows now in the presence of our girls. I want to have a third and fourth wheel by our side. Because I’ve now seen how beautiful the sacrament of marriage is when it’s shared with those who directly receive the love and commitment it promises.
PSA to all of my brides and grooms. Have all of the babies at your wedding day, and meet me at Cold Storage Beach! And to Nina and Hal, thank you for sharing your sweetness with me.
