I'm a Florida girl at heart, but fell in love here on Cape Cod and have been embracing New England life ever since. It's been such a blessing building a life and chasing my dreams with my husband, our two little girls, and our pups.
I'm Ashley!
Hi there!
I’m Ashley, and these are my two main squeezes, Matt and Mackenzie. We live on a little slice of heaven known as Cape Cod. We’ve been here for almost seven years now, and life on the Cape just keeps getting sweeter. We’ve owned two homes, started growing our family, and have made many memories; from picnics at the canal, to drive-in movies in Wellfleet, to whale watches and shopping and parades in Provincetown, to ferry rides out to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, to dinners and good times with friends- we are truly loving where the good lord planted us.
Summers here are probably my favorite because of, well, the heat and sunshine! But, I’m also quite fond of fall, having never grown up in a state that flaunted foliage. Ah, the smell and feel of that crisp autumn air gets me every time! Winter, though, that season will always have my heart. I know, Florida girl say what?! That’s when I met my husband. That’s when we explored the snow-covered harbors and walked the empty streets of our favorite towns. That’s when the Cape truly comes alive for us.
Matt is a local firefighter for our town of Mashpee. He used to be a wild-land firefighter for the National Seashore, and sometimes I miss that life of his because I always loved when he would come home smelling of smoke. We are both washashores (the endearing term used to describe those who are not native Cape Codders) which for us means our families live pretty far away (Connecticut and Florida), but thankfully the fire department has grown to be our very own extended family; we love the members and their families so much and are so blessed to have found some of our best friends among them. Being a fire wife is everything I always wanted, though it definitely has its challenges. Being apart from one another for 24 hours at a time (sometimes more) is not something I enjoy, but I think it’s helped us appreciate our time together more; and I always get to miss him. Mackenzie loves visiting her daddy at the station, and everyone loves seeing their honorary fire pup, Charlie!
Three years ago Matt and I said “We Do” at the most adorable resort in Kennebunkport, ME called The Nonantum. It was there on the twinkle-lit dance floor that we performed our choreographed routine to the beautiful melody of “La Vie en Rose” by Louis Armstrong. I fell in love with that song a few years before I met Matt, while watching “How I Met Your Mother”. After seeing how happy he made me and how beautiful my life had become, I knew this song would fit our love perfectly. The meaning of the song translates literally to “life in the pink”, which means you see life through rose colored glasses; as if everything you see is tinted with joy and happiness. Here’s to many more happy days together! And here’s to bringing some of that happiness to all of you through my lens!
